During the Interview

Interview Skills

Getting selected for an interview was your first hurdle. You cleared that! Now it's the interview. If you prepare for this you will improve your chances of success immeasurably. Here are some tips:

During the Interview

Listen hard to questions
Keep your answers concise
Be positive

Listen hard to questions
I don't think I am risking much by saying that if you don't know what the question is about, you are highly unlikely to answer it well. If you are unclear about the question, it is certainly worth asking for clarification before attempting your response..

Keep your answers concise
Don't rattle on endlessly. Answer each question concisely and shut up! But weave into your response the things you can offer that your future employer is looking for. If the employer is looking for project management skills and has asked you a question about a particular assignment from your early career, emphasise the project management element - how much you learnt by being managed; how much you did; your observation (positive) on the project manager etc.

Be positive
You are the answer to the recruiter's problem. Be warm and enthusiastic and POSITIVE. This means you focus on the ring of your doughnut not the hole!
